Mitzvot Only Benefit Us
The Pasuk says in Kohelet: "שומר מצוה לא ידע דבר רע"- someone who does a mitzvah will not see any evil as a result. Mitzvot can only benefit us both physically and spiritually.
The fact will always remain-a person never loses by doing a Mitzvah. But Hashem does test us, to see how faithful we are to Him.
We cannot see the workings of Hashem, but we can trust that He is always acting righteously and mercifully. The fact will always remain: A person never loses by following Hashem's will.
