The best prayer is one in which the person realizes Who he is standing in front of and what His capabilities are. This is one of the reasons why we start the Amida with praise, so we realize who Hashem is, and only then do we make our requests. We all know that only Hashem could help us, but from time to time, we need to be reminded of it so that it is at the forefront of our minds.
There is nothing that can take the place of a good tefila.
