Enjoying Bitachon: Lessons from the Shemita Year

When a person is able to have emunah and believe in beyond what meets the eye, it is a very precious avodat Hashem. The way that it seems, doctors and medications are what bring about people’s refuah, but we are supposed to believe that our health is completely in the hands of Hashem. Shulchan Aruch brings down a yehi ratzon which the poskim tell us a person is supposed to say before he takes any kind of medication or does anything in the area of hishtadlut to be healed. The yehi ratzon is a beautiful tefila and it also puts the person in the correct frame of mind, recognizing that it is really Hashem who is the one bringing the refua. When we believe that Hashem is the only one in charge, it is also a great segula which opens the gates of Shamayim and brings down beracha. Sometimes, that belief is the only obstacle holding back a person’s salvation and with a little chizuk, a person can attain it. Hashem could help us even to have emunah in Him.
If we are ever having trouble with our emunah, we can ask Hashem for help with that too.
