Strengthening the Baal Emunah: Listening to Divine Stories

Parashat Bo: Strengthening Our Emuna Muscles
In this week’s Parasha, Bo, we continue reading about the geula from Mitzrayim. Chazal tell us the Jewish People were redeemed from Mitzrayim in the merit of their emunah, and we as well will be redeemed from our current exile in the zechut of our emunah. In Mitzrayim, Hashem gave the Jewish People many opportunities to have emunah in Him to earn the right to be redeemed. It says in parashat Shemot that Moshe and Aharon gathered the people together to tell them about the geula and that Hashem was going to save them. Then the pasuk testifies ויאמן העם – the people believed it.
To truly feel inner peace, understanding that we are in the best hands at all times, requires a lot of work. But fortunately for us, it is not an all or nothing endeavor. If our hearts used to race at a very fast pace when we faced adversity and now it got a little slower because of the emunah we have learned, that means that the emunah penetrated. Hashem appreciates every little amount of emunah and bitachon that we have in Him, and He will reward us for all of it. Every time we hear an idea in emunah, it strengthens our bitachon muscles. The goal is for the emunah to completely change us on the inside. Each little improvement is very special and should not be underestimated. Hashem gives everyone multitudes of opportunities to have emunah in Him. Our emunah produces salvations and b’ezrat Hashem we should be zocheh to the ultimate salvation and see the geula shelema במהרה בימינו אמן.
Shabbat Shalom!!
