Lech Lecha: The Purpose Of This World
The purpose of this world is us doing avodat Hashem to the best of our ability in the circumstances that Hashem puts us in. That is the only determinant of our success. When a person has emunah and trusts that Hashem is doing what’s best for him, although it appears otherwise, he is fulfilling one of the main purposes that he was placed on this earth for. Yes, it’s hard to pray for something and seemingly get negative results from those efforts, but the value of having emunah under those circumstances is indescribable. B’ezrat Hashem, we hope that we will be given the yeshuot we’re anticipating, but until they come we must utilize the opportunity to trust Hashem that He’s doing what is best, to continue praying without seeing the results, and to continue serving although it seems we’re being rejected. That is what made Avraham so great and that is what can make every person so great. Sometimes, Hashem will give a person a little chizuk to help him maintain his emunah until the yeshua comes. If the chizuk comes, it’s a great feeling, but if not, our efforts will just become worth even more.
Chizuk is great, especially subtle messages from Hashem. The main thing is for us to trust Him and continue serving Him to the best of our ability. Then, no matter what happens, we will know that we are fulfilling our purpose in this world.
Shabbat Shalom!
