Our Precious Commodity: The Wonder of a Mitzvah
Our Merit
Every mitzvah we perform does wonders for us. When we merit to do a mitzvah, we are supposed to feel like we just attained the most precious commodity in the world. We are supposed to beg Hashem to give us the zechut to fulfill more mitzvot. It is a privilege to be able to do any mitzvah. If we understood their true value, we wouldn’t trade a mitzvah opportunity for anything. One should never feel as if he is doing Hashem a favor by performing a mitzvah. Hashem doesn’t need us. It’s just the opposite, He’s doing us a favor by allowing us to perform the mitzvot. If we come to Hashem with humility, asking for His help in the performance of mitzvot, we’ll have more Siyata d’Shamaya.
We must cherish each mitzvah and feel that it is a gift from Hashem that we are able to perform them.
