Concentration in Prayer: Valuing Private Time with Hashem

We know that we have an obligation to make hishtadlut to take care of our needs in this world. Chazal learned the source of this obligation from the pasuk, וברכתיך בכל אשר תעשה -Hashem said He will bless us in all that we do. We put in the effort and Hashem sends the blessing. We know the blessing does not depend on how much effort we put in. As long as we do our basic responsibility, Hashem will send the blessing that He already decreed for us to have.
When it comes to earning a livelihood, the Chovot HeLevavot writes in the Shaar HaBitachon perek 4, our obligation is just to work enough to pay for our basic expenses. If someone is meant to have extras, whether it's a little extra or phenomenal wealth, Hashem will provide that without any extra hishtadlut.
Hashem doesn't need our help in giving us parnasa. We have to make an effort because that's His will, but we mustn't overdo it, and we must know that everything always comes from Him.
