The Final Corridor: Yosef’s Reveal and Divine Finality

Parashat Miketz: Power Your Hishtadlut
The Midrash at the beginning of this week’s parasha, Miketz, praises Yosef for his great level of bitachon in Hashem. And precisely because he was on such a high level he was held accountable for asking the Sar HaMashkim for help while in jail. In general, we are all required and encouraged to make a hishtadlut to attain what we want, as long as it is a reasonable hishtadlut which shows that we believe Hashem is really in charge of the results. To bolster our physical hishtadlut, it always helps to make a spiritual hishtadlut as well. Whether it is accepting upon ourselves to improve in a certain mitzvah or doing a special act which requires mesirut nefesh.
Hishtadlut is an obligation. The best way to give power to our hishtadlut is to make a spiritual hishtadlut as well.
