Strengthening Through Difficulty: Finding Light in the Crash

The nerot Chanukah are supposed to be placed in eye’s view in order for the miracle to be publicized. The sefarim hakedoshim teach us about how much kedusha radiates from the nerot Chanukah and how much a person can gain just by looking at them. The Beit Avraham writes, when a person gazes at the nerot Chanukah, he is able to make a type of tikkun for the negative things his eyes have seen. The Imrei Menachem writes, the kedusha of the nerot gives a person extra strength to overcome future nisyonot in guarding his eyes. The Gemara in Berachot says the ayin hara had no effect on Yosek HaTzaddik because his eyes did not look at what was forbidden to him. And the Lev Shomea writes it is clear from that Gemara that one of the rewards given to a person who guards his eyes in being saved from the ayin hara.
Of course, it is incumbent upon a person to avoid putting himself in situations where he could potentially fall, but if he is ever in such a situation and he overcomes the challenge, he becomes so elevated. The Yafeh LaLev writes, anyone who is careful to protect his eyes from seeing the wrong things will be zocheh in the future to take delight in the radiance of the Shechina. May the אור of Chanukah help us fulfill this great mission.
HAPPY CHANUKAH!!!
