Being that this world is just a preparatory ground for the World to Come, the greatest chesed Hashem could do for a person is to help him fix what he needs to fix while he still has the opportunity here. What we may think is the worst news is, in reality, the best news. We just don’t see the full picture. We may have forgotten about things that we need to correct, but fortunately for us, Hashem never forgets and, even decades later, He guides us, if we have the zechut, to achieve full teshuva for what we may have done wrong.
