One of the names of the holiday of Shavuot is Atzeret, which means to gather. The Bnei Yissaschar writes this connotes the achdut, the unity of Klal Yisrael. This is how we needed to be as a prerequisite to receiving the Torah. As it says ויחן שם ישראל נגד ההר , and Rashi explains, כאיש אחד בלב אחד – they were all unified like one person with one heart. And this is the reason the mazal of the month of Sivan is twins, something which shows the brotherly love that the Jewish People had for each other at the time of Matan Torah. Unity brings the Shechina closer and it is the receptacle most necessary to hold Hashem’s blessings. One of the ways in which we can prepare for Matan Torah is by making peace with others who we may be at odds with.
Making peace brings the Shechina closer and opens the door for Hashem’s berachot to come pouring in. Let us become unified as we prepare for the great day of Matan Torah.
