How beautiful it is when a person lives his everyday life with the recognition that Hashem is behind everything that takes place in it. Every test a person encounters he says, “I know Hashem is doing this and I’m going to act the way He wants me to.” The tests in life are not easy, especially when it comes to money. When a person is in a difficult financial position and every dollar counts, he could very easily become swayed to do whatever it takes to bring in more cash, even if it’s unethical. Someone who is able to stand up to these types of tests, knowing that Hashem controls his parnasa, soars to great heights in emunah.
Hashem gave them kosher channels to earn the money they needed, which is now going to bring in much more than the money they gave up by being honest. They were being tested, but they recognized it was from Hashem for their good and they persevered. They are going to be rewarded for all eternity for overcoming each one of these tests, as well as for living their lives with the recognition that Hashem is behind everything that happens. The emunah that they are portraying is very special and Hashem appreciates every bit of it.
