The Maharal writes, when Hashem took us out of Mitzrayim, defying all the laws of nature, He lifted us up above nature as well. We became a different people, people who would be compatible with the Torah and mitzvot. We have no idea what every mitzvah does for us. Every morning we have the zechut to put on tefillin. In our tefillin shel rosh there are four compartments and each one has a different parasha written inside of it. As we know, the brain is what operates the entire body and there are four major parts to the brain. Rabbi Zamir Cohen said a study was done and it was found that each parasha in the tefillin has something to do with the very part of the brain in which it lies upon. Hashem is sending His kedusha into us through the tefillin every single day.
The mitzvot give us so much more than we put into them. We are so fortunate to have the Torah and we have to feel that way every time we do a mitzvah.
