Siyata D’Shamaya in Action: Helping Others through Him
Parashat Acharei Mot-Kedoshim
In the beginning of parashat Acharei Mot, Aharon was commanded to limit his entering into the Kodesh Kedoshim. Rashi says because Hashem’s Presence was evident there, and He didn’t want Aharon to get used to it. A person could be in the holiest place in the world, but if he gets accustomed to the surroundings there, there is a danger that he might not treat it with the full respect that it deserves.
The same applies when we’re involved in all types of spiritual matters. We must constantly be re-energizing ourselves to ensure that habit does not desensitize our attitudes towards the holiest of endeavors. The Gemara tells us, prayer requires constant chizuk. One of the reasons is because we do it so often, we forget about how valuable each word of tefila really is. If we knew how much Hashem loved every word of tefila that came out of our mouths with kavana, we would be so much more excited to do it.
One way to get ourselves to value our time with Hashem more is to tell Hashem, “We are going to take the necessary steps to show You that we value our tefila. We are going to put our phones away, or any other potential disturbances, so that we can have complete focus on You.”
B’ezrat Hashem, when we’re focused, all of our tefilot will be mekubal b’ratzon.
Shabbat Shalom!
