Source of Hope: Lessons from Yosef’s Salvation

Parashat Miketz: Play The Role
The mida that Yosef portrayed is called midat hahishtavut, which means a person who believes that everything that happens to him is from Hashem, and his job in this world is just to play the role that Hashem asks him to play. It doesn’t matter where he is. He could be in jail, he could be a leader. Wherever he is, he’s serving Hashem in the place that Hashem wants him to be in, and that is all that matters.
We are all here on a mission to serve Hashem in the places that He puts us in. It doesn't really matter where we are, because wherever it is, we’re working for our Boss, and He’s going to pay us full wages. If we can train ourselves to think like this, we can attain the glorious mida of hishtavut and soar to the greatest heights.
Shabbat Shalom!!
