Exercise Your Bitachon: Opportunities in Failed Efforts
Parasha Vayetzeh
In general, a father should not prevent a younger daughter from starting shidduchim because an older one is not married yet. Rabbi Zilberstein wrote, if the older daughter is refusing to allow her younger sister to start shidduchim, she should be told what a zechut it would be for her to overcome her nature and be מעביר על מידותיה. If she will overlook her own interests and be happy for her sister to date, that would cleanse her from all of her sins. As the Gemara says, "המעביר על מידותיו, מעבירין לו על כל פשעיו." And then, she will be fit to b’ezrat Hashem receive her own yeshua.
Shabbat Shalom!!
