If a Jew sins and has to be punished for it, it doesn’t mean that Hashem has less love for him. The person needs an atonement so that he can become pure again but, even during the punishment, Hashem’s love for him does not change. Hashem has unconditional love for us and we are supposed to have unconditional love for Him.
May Hashem help us have the proper emunah in Him all the time.
