Anticipating Reopening: Returning to Life with Faith

Many people are anxious to start getting out again, to reopen the shuls and businesses and go back to life as usual. The weather will be getting nicer and that will add even more to this temptation. We must strengthen ourselves and take heed as the danger has not passed yet. By staying home and making the necessary hishtadlut to stay healthy, we are fulfilling a great mitzvah in the Torah. When it comes to protecting our lives, the Torah says “ונשמרתם מאד לנפשותיכם – we are to guard them very much." We should have in mind that by staying home, even if it means missing minyanim, we are fulfilling a great mitzvah from the Torah.
Every moment of life that a person is given in this world is calculated by Hashem to be used for a specific purpose. Every day is unique and what is able to be accomplished today cannot be accomplished tomorrow. During these days it may be more difficult to grow spiritually, without the shul environment and without being next to rabbis and others to learn from.
We hope it will end soon and we’ll be able to grow like we used to, with revitalized energy and new goals and aspirations, but until then we must utilize every moment of the opportunity we are being given right now.
