The Merit of Mitzvot: Choosing to Perform

Parashat Shemini
To be able to perform Mitzvot requires a lot of merit. We have the ability to choose to do a Mitzva. We also have the ability to attempt to get it done. However, to complete a Mitzva requires Heavenly assistance. To actually make it to shul to pray with a Minyan, or to actually make it to the Beit Midrash to learn Torah or perform Gemilut Chasadim requires merit.
Mitzvot are the most precious commodities in existence. For each Mitzva, Hashem rewards us with eternal joy. Everybody knows that the more valuable something is, the harder it is to obtain. There is no guarantee that if someone goes to work he will become a millionaire. He needs merit . So too, with regard to serving Hashem.
We have to value our Avoda (service) and pray to Hashem to please help us serve Him. B’ezrat Hashem that will be our Zechut to get the Heavenly help we need.
Shabbat Shalom!
