Having bitachon in Hashem gives a person peace of mind and serenity, and that is what everyone is seeking. How can we strengthen our bitachon when there is so much turmoil going on around us? There’s stress building up from people being out of work, from having all the children at home, from not being able to leave the house, from preparing for Pesach, and the list goes on. The first step is to remind ourselves that every last detail of what is going on in each person’s individual life is being completely controlled by Hashem for that individual’s benefit. Hashem has never lost control and never will. It’s very easy to have emunah when Hashem performs miracles and displays His control. But when everything that is happening is so natural and it appears that nature is just taking its course, that is where the real job of emunah begins. That is what we call ואמונתך בלילות-Emunah in the dark times. Hashem made the job of emunah difficult for us because He required us to make all the efforts necessary to protect ourselves in the natural way of the world and we’re being asked to make the same hishtadlut as everybody else and then we have to feel totally at ease, understanding that nothing will happen unless it’s Hashem’s will for us.
We’re exactly where Hashem knows we need to be. And when He tells us the reasons for why He’s doing this, we’ll be so overjoyed. Strengthening this emunah is a mitzvah and b’ezrat Hashem in its merit we should see beracha, refuah and hatzlacha. Amen!!
