The Most Effective Healing: Completely Healed by Hashem

The Most Effective Healing
רפאנו ה' –heal us, Hashem – ונרפא – and then we know we’ll be completely healed. At this time so many people are in need of a refuah shelemah. In Hashem’s great love for us, He gave us a way to bring about refuot in the most wondrous ways. By praying to Him, using the power of tefila, that is the most effective way to be healed. It is the most painless way to be healed and it could accomplish what medications and doctors can’t. But we need to do it the right way, we need to pray the way our prayers are meant to be prayed.
Our prayers are so dear to Hashem and they carry so much weight in determining how He runs the world. We need to use this power to pray for others as well who are in need of a refuah. One of the main parts of the mitzvah of visiting the sick is to pray for the patient, to see him in his weakened state and become aroused with mercy to beg Hashem to heal him. Now, we’re not able to visit any patients, but we could still do the main part of the mitzvah by praying hard for those people to be healed. When we hear of a name of a person who is in need of a refuah, we should stop what we are doing, feel the gravity of the situation of that person and all of his family members and then we should wholeheartedly ask Hashem to please give him a refuah shelemah. Saying Tehillim helps. Accepting to do mitzvot in his merit helps. We need to use all of the gifts that Hashem gave us to help others. When someone prays for another person to be healed, he’s also fulfilling the positive commandment from the Torah called ואהבת לרעך כמוך – loving your friend like you love yourself. According to some, he also fulfills a second positive commandment called והלכת בדרכיו – emulating the ways of Hashem.
May Hashem bring a complete refuah to all of those in need of one. May we all be strong and healthy to be able to do our avodat hakodesh and serve Hashem the way that He wants us to.
