Auspicious Geula: Anticipating Redemption in Nissan

Today is Rosh Chodesh Nissan and Chazal tell us “בניסן נגאלו ובניסן עתידין להיגאל” – This is the month that is auspicious for Geula. At this time there are so many people anticipating the Geula. The Gemara says in Masechet Sukkah on the pasuk, “ציון היא דורש אין לה,” that in order for the Mashiach to come, people have to want him to come and, now, we are all feeling that need.
Hashem is willing to give up hundreds of thousands of people singing His praises in shul, answering יהא שמיה רבה מברך, saying קדוש, קדוש, קדוש, all to give us a message – if we don’t improve now, then it will have all been for nothing. We are all in isolation, like the leper whose condition primarily came about because of lashon hara. Are we improving in our speech? Are we teaching our families how to improve their speech? Are we learning the laws of lashon hara? We are not worthy now of living amongst people. There are definitely many areas that need to be corrected ben adam lechavero. Do we still have enemies? Do we still have people we won’t talk to? Now is the time to end the disputes. If not now, then when?
We could start by spreading Torah and mitzvot to our own families and to improve in areas that we used to think were beyond us.
Now is the time to make those moves. B’ezrat Hashem, if we do, we’ll be zocheh this year to eat from the Korban Pesach in Yerushalayim Ir HaKodesh with the binyan Bet HaMikdash. Amen.
