Mourning the Destruction: The Heart of Tisha B’Av
This Shabbat is Tisha B’Av, and therefore the fast is pushed off until Sunday, the 10th of Av. The reason for the fast is because of our anguish over the destruction of the Bet HaMikdash.
All of the money that we spend on Shabbat is not included in what we are decreed to make during the year, since it is like we are eating in the Mikdash on Hashem’s table.
If the Jewish People would keep just one Shabbat properly, immediately Mashiach would come. Let us keep this Shabbat, Tisha B’Av, the way Shabbat is supposed to be kept, and live in the Bet HaMikdash with Hashem. And then, may we see the coming of the Mashiach and celebrate this Tisha B’Av and see the fulfillment of the pasuk that our fast days, including Tisha B’Av will be “לבית יהודה לששון ולשמחה ולמועדים טובים – joyous and festive holidays.”
Shabbat Shalom!!!
