The Divine Decree: Protecting What is Yours

No person has the ability to take away or cause anything to be taken away from us that Hashem wanted us to have. As the Gemara says, “אין אדם נוגע במוכן לחבירו אפילו כמלוא נימה - No one can encroach on what is meant for his friend by even a hair’s breadth.” If the job was good for us to have, we would have gotten it despite that comment. If the shidduch was good for us, it would have worked out no matter what anyone said.
Hashem runs the world. If people are meant for each other, a shadchan can’t get in the way and neither can anybody else. If we could internalize this fact, we’ll never have heartache when it looks like people ruined our chances of getting something that we wanted.
