Parashat Titzaveh: The Olive Press
In this week's Parasha Titzaveh Hashem tells Moshe to be in charge of obtaining the olive oil to be used in the Menorah. And the Midrash asks, why was olive oil chosen, amongst all other oils, to be used in the Menorah? It answers, because the Jewish People are compared to an olive, as it says in Yirmiya
If we would know what every difficulty is doing for us, we would actually ask Hashem for them. If we are being pressed into tough times, we should use the opportunity to grow and bring out our best.
