One of the greatest expressions of Emunah is when we do good deeds in private. It's saying, "I know Hashem sees me; nobody else needs to know what I do." When we do good deeds in private, we should have in mind, we're also fulfilling the mitzvah of Emunah.
The Chovot HaLevavot writes in the Shaar HaBitachon (Ch.4) that when it comes to doing mitzvot with our fellow man like giving charity, helping them get closer to Hashem and doing acts of kindness, our motivation should be solely to come closer to Hashem. We should not be looking to acquire a name for ourselves or hope to be paid back by the people we helped or feel like we could lord over them because of what we did for them. Rather, we should try with all of our ability to conceal our good deeds. That will make them so pure. And when a deed is concealed, the reward from Hashem is much greater.
In Rabbi Avigdor Miller's Ten Steps to Greatness, he writes, "A person should attempt to do one good deed a day that nobody knows about." It could be as simple as taking out the neighbor's trash or cleaning up a mess in the house to save our spouse from doing the job. No one has to know. Hashem saw it. That will reaffirm our Emunah in Him and make the deed so much greater
