Parashat Ki Tavo: Finding Joy in Hashem's Gifts

Parashat Ki Tavo: Rejoice in All the Good
The beginning of this week's Parasha, Ki Tavo, describes the Mitzva of Bikurim, in which the landowner would place his first fruits in a basket and bring them to the Bet Hamikdash as a gift to the Kohen. Upon completing the Mitzva, the Pasuk say, "ושמחת בכל הטוב אשר נתן ה' אלוקיך לך"-The landowner should rejoice in all the good that Hashem has given him. Our Rabbis tell us that this Mitzva of Bikurim taught the landowner הכרת הטוב-to appreciate Hashem.
Thanking Hashem is a great Avodah. It brings a person happiness. It elevates him spiritually and earns him great merits.
Rejoice in all the good. Hashem wants us to be happy. The more we appreciate, the happier we will be.
Shabbat Shalom!
