Beloved Chesed: Why Kindness Outweighs a Thousand Offerings
One of the things the yetzer hara tells us is that we have to make sure that our deeds become known by others. One reason is so that others can learn from us and be inspired to do the same thing. And another reason is that we need to acquire a good name for ourselves.
It is true, טוב שם משמן טוב, but as far as we are concerned, we do not need to make any hishtadlut to build up our own name. If we serve Hashem for His sake, He will take care of that part.
