Raising Hashem's Holy Children

Hashem's Children
Raising children is one of the most difficult jobs given to man. There are power struggles, sleepless nights, disciplining, worrying and the list goes on. It is the hope of every parent to raise an upstanding child in Klal Yisrael. Chazal describe this job as צער גידול בנים - the pain of trying to raise a child. Hashem gave us a natural desire to want to raise children because, without it, the task would be too daunting.
Every moment that we are attempting to get closer to Hashem, or do His will is a guaranteed productive moment. Hashem pays us for efforts, not for results.
Our children are Hashem's children. By raising them, we are working for Hashem. He knows all of the efforts that we put in, and only He needs to know. When we understand that something we thought was just another mundane activity is actually the holiest of services to Hashem, it will help us do it with a more positive attitude. And that's what child raising is - Avodat Hashem. And therefore, all of the time that we spend on it, with the right intentions, will be heavily rewarded.
