The Natural Tool: Prayer as a Means of Help

The Maharsha writes (Kiddushin 29), prayer is considered a natural means of help. It is not a miracle. Sometimes when we come to pray, we may feel that we need extra zechuyot or that we are unworthy of asking for help. It’s not true. Hashem set up the world in a way where just like if a person plants a seed and nurtures it properly it will grow, so too if the person prays properly the prayer will produce results. Tefila is not just another means of asking for help, it is the best option we have. And if we feel that way, our prayers will be much more powerful and therefore much more effective.
Tefila works. It’s for everyone. It’s not only a natural hishtadlut, it’s the best hishtadlut we could make!
