Crowning the King: The Avodah of the Shofar

Crowning The King On Rosh Hashana
The main Avodah of Rosh Hashanah is to be ממליך ה'- to crown Hashem the King. It is told that during the blowing of the Shofar, the Vilna Gaon was exceedingly happy. He said, “That is the peak of Hashem’s coronation; how can we not be overjoyed for this wonderful opportunity?” But what does it mean to crown Hashem? Isn’t He King already? It means to accept Hashem’s Kingship by embracing the life that He wants us to live, embracing the Torah and Mitzvot and embracing the way He deals with us.
Everyone has a different mission. Hashem leads each person in the path he is meant to take. If we can accept His will for the life that He wants us to lead, we will be fulfilling the greatest Avodah of being Mamlich Hashem. B’ezrat Hashem, we should be Zocheh to always serve Hashem properly and we should all have a Ketiva v’Chatima Tova. Amen!!!
