The Soul of Judaism: The Saving Power of Shema

Wherever you are, wherever you go, say the pasuk ‘שמע ישראל ה' אלוקינו ה' אחד,' and that will save you from all evil.
The Shema Yisrael is the soul of Judaism. It is the song of every Jew’s life.
The Zohar says, there are 248 words in Shema corresponding to the 248 limbs in a person’s body. Each word of Shema can bring refuah to the limb that it corresponds to and rectify the spiritual blemishes in each limb, that resulted from sin.
The Arizal writes, the Shema we say before we go to sleep destroys negative and harmful forces.
Shema Yisrael – Pay attention and understand, all of us in Klal Yisrael
Hashem Elokenu – Hashem, who was, is and will always be here, is our G-d and He controls everything, and He can do whatever He wants at any time
Hashem Echad – Hashem is the only One with control in the Heavens and on the Earth and throughout the four corners of this world
This is our basic and most fundamental emunah, and Hashem wants us to say it so many times, so that it gets ingrained into us. If we take the extra few seconds to realize what we’re saying, our emunah in Hashem will become much stronger. May we merit to fulfill this wondrous mitzvah every day to its fullest.
