Why Can't Things Just Be Smooth?
Learning about Emunah is learning about Hashem-how He deals with us and how He runs the world. Many issues can arise during the course of a regular day which could upset a person or cause him pain. If we would have the proper perspective on how to view Hashem, the issues will not bother us as much.
The Gemara says when a person gets married it's a great miracle, as though Hashem split the sea for that person. Yet, shortly afterwards, issues arise with apartments, parnasa or family.
When he sends us a spouse, it's the greatest gift. But when the apartment we thought we would get falls though, it's also the greatest gift. When someone gets a great job, it's because of Hashem's mercy. But when he loses the sale, it's also because of Hashem's mercy. Knowing that Hashem is always good is one of life's greatest challenges. Everything is always going smoothly. It's exactly as it's supposed to be. We are not able to see the good, but we are able to believe in it. If we do, we will be fortunate both in this world and the next.
