Shemini: The Divine Nature of Mourning
Parashat Shemini /Parah
The Michtav MeEliyahu writes that it is not in the nature of man to ever feel comforted over the loss of a loved one. It is not true what they say that time heals all wounds. However, a person can be consoled by the בעל הנחמות – Hashem, who is called the Master of Consoling. He can always bring comfort to a person. Thus, we tell a mourner, “המקום ינחם אתכם – Hashem should comfort you – or, “תנחמו מן השמים.”
