Why We Must Remember to Forget Amalek

Parashat Vayikra: The Lesson of Amalek
This Shabbat we read Parashat Zachor. Although it is only three Pesukim, the Rambam counts three of the 613 Mitzvot in this short Parashah. We're commanded to wipe out the remembrance of Amalek, as it says- "תמחה את זכר עמלק". We're commanded to remember what Amalek did to us when we left Egypt as it says,-"זכור". And finally , there's a negative commandment never to forget it, as it says, -"לא תשכח." The Sefer HaChinuch writes, one of the reasons for these Mitzvot is for us to know that whoever harms the Jewish People becomes an enemy of Hashem. We are Hashem's pride and joy and He is constantly protecting us from the evil plans of our enemies.
Hashem is always with us. If we recognize it, it will help us during the challenge and B'ezrat Hashem, help us get out of the challenge.
Shabbat Shalom!
