The Three Pillars: Torah, Avodah, and Gemilut Chasadim

The Best Option
In what zechut were the Jewish People redeemed from Mitzrayim? The pasuk says וַנִּצְעַק אֶל ה' אֱלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵינוּ, וַיִשְׁמַע ה' אֶת קֹלֵנו – they cried out to Hashem in tefila, and Hashem heard their tefilot. The Haggadah informs us that those prayers took place after many years. Our Rabbis tell us it was 86 years from when the harshest slavery began. Why did they wait so long? The pasuk says it was only after the king of Mitzrayim died that they finally made these heartfelt tefilot, and the Ramban explains, because they thought the whole time when the king would die the slavery would end. It was only when they saw that the work just got harder that they finally cried out to Hashem.
There are many reasons why a person would refrain from putting all his emotions and efforts into tefila. One is, he already made a plan how he is going to get what he wants, so he doesn’t think he needs Hashem. Or, he tried praying previously and it didn’t work out the way that he hoped. Or he feels so hopeless that he can’t even bring himself to want to pray. Whatever the reason may be, it is always a ploy of the Evil Inclination who wants to hold back good from a person. Tefila is always the best option and if it is hard to do, it just becomes more valuable. By refraining from tefila, we are only hurting ourselves.
Tefila is always our greatest tool. The more we use it the better off we will be. The sooner we cry out in sincerity from the depths of our hearts, the sooner we can experience the great yeshuot of Hashem.
