Geula in Nissan: Anticipating the Glorious Month

The Gemara in Masechet Shabbat speaks about different influences that certain stars and mazalot have in this world. However, someone who gets wrapped up in mazal is like a person who is inside a house and opens an umbrella over his head to protect himself from the rain. Hashem is the source of all influences. Nothing has power other than Him. He runs the world by spreading His influences through different channels, but as far as we are concerned, He is the only one that matters. And thus, the Gemara says, אין מזל לישראל – we are above mazal. With tefila and good deeds, a person can change anything. Hashem wants us to trust in Him and feel our security in Him. The pasuk says in Megilat Rut, ישלם ה' פעלך ותהי משכורתך שלמה מעם ה' אלוקי ישראל אשר־באת לחסות תחת־כנפיו – Rut’s rewards were going to be great, mainly because she came to seek refuge under the wings of Hashem. The midrash there speaks so highly of a person who is able to take his comfort in the fact that he has Hashem.
The reality is Hashem helps everyone. It may not make sense on pen and paper, but it doesn’t have to. Of course, we have to make our efforts to gather the funds we need, but we must do it with complete tranquility, knowing that Hashem knows what we need and that He will be the One that is going to help us.
