Happier with Yissurin: Cleansing the Soul through Trials

Rabbi Shmuel David Walkin who learned in the Radin Yeshiva for thirteen years told that he once watched a great Rebbe ask the Chafetz Chaim for a beracha that his children should become tzaddikim. The Chafetz Chaim smiled and said, “People don’t merit great children with berachot. For that you need a tremendous amount of self-sacrifice – mesirut nefesh.”
The more a parent is willing to sacrifice for his children’s spirituality, the greater the child will be.
