Chanukah For The Lost Souls
The Gemara says in Masechet Shabbat the oils and wicks which are forbidden to be used to light the Shabbat candles are able to be used to light the Chanukah candles. The Sfat Emet said in the name of the Chidushei HaRim one of the deeper meanings of that Gemara is that the neshamot of the people who can’t seem to get ignited even from the holy Shabbat will be able to get ignited from the lights of the Chanukah candles.
Hashem took this Rabbi and placed him in that setting to give chizuk to those 400 lost souls. Hashem could figure out ways to help when we can’t. We need to utilize the extra Siyata d’Shamaya we have on Chanukah and beg Hashem to bring back all of those who have veered from the path.
