The Odds are Low: Trusting in the Situation of Shoftim
Leave the Questions on the Side
There are various segulot found in Chazal, some which promise wealth, some marriage, some children. If a person follows exactly what he was told to do but does not see the outcome that he was told he would get, it could severely damage that person’s emunah. The same applies when people go to rabbis for berachot and the rabbi tells them, If you do this, you will get married by this date, or you will have a child by this date. If it doesn’t happen, the person’s emunat chachamim gets damaged.
Every word in the Torah is emmet, every word of Chazal is emmet. We should never allow an experience to cause our emunah to waver even in the slightest bit. There is an answer to every question and if we don’t know it yet, we should leave the question on the side and continue doing our avodah knowing that one day we will get the answer and the answer will be so clear to us that we won’t even believe that we ever had the question in the first place.
